Description

To See A World in a Grain of Sand: Danger, Discovery, & Delight in Exploration Science

In a joint event presented by the Natural History Museum's Gem and Mineral Council and the Explorers Club of Southern California, Discovery Channel volcanologist and Explorers Club Fellow "Volcano" Jess Peláez will kick off the new year with a bang. Join us as we journey with Jess through the jungles of South America, the wilds of central Mexico, the gritty Australian Outback, the windswept plains of Mongolia, the rugged desolation of North America, and the mysterious depths of the Pacific Ocean. Science and the spirit of adventurous exploration await.

Jess Peláez is Executive Director, Principal Investigator, and co-founder of revolutionary scientific research organization Blueprint Earth. She is a volcanologist, an accomplished extreme explorer, and a professional field scientist. Jess is a Fellow in The Explorers Club, a featured scientist on Discovery Channel's Trailblazers series, an invited TEDx speaker, and her work has been covered in Popular Science magazine, NASA’s FameLab, on National Public Radio, and on This Week In Science.
